The Mehadi Foundation Missions

The Mehadi Foundation (pronounced "meh-húh-DEE") is a non-profit foundation with two missions. The first is to serve as a support network providing assistance to United States Armed Forces Veterans who were enlisted during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Our intention is to reach out especially to veterans who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and those who self-medicate with drugs and alcohol, or who suffer from other addictive patterns. The Mehadi foundation makes a special effort to reach out to members of the LGBTQ community who served under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" statute.

The second mission is to support humanitarian efforts in Iraq: helping civilians as they attempt to rebuild in the wake of the conflict. We place special emphasis on providing wheelchairs to those in need without access to them, water purification projects for schools, and helping in any way we can, LGBTQ Iraqis who have been the targets of extreme abuse and persecution.

It is important to state that implicit in our mission is a desire to unify a nation and a world divided politically and ideologically over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Mehadi Foundation takes no political stance and does not wish to engage in any controversy. Our singular focus is to keep attention on the human face of war, and do what we can to help.

Both missions are of equal importance and receive equal attention. While we grow and develop our own strategies and capabilities we accomplish our mission by working in concert with other organizations active in these areas of need.
